Visitation one hour before service at the church.
On November 28, 2021, Mom, Hildegarde C. Palo, finally got into the car with Dad, Rudy Palo, and sped off to heaven. We were not surprised that she made Dad wait, but only by the length of it. When we—Reed Palo, Anne Kline, and Stephen Palo—were growing up Mom always was the last in the Dodge Dart Swinger when we were going to church. Dad, a Lutheran preacher, was a little impatient since he needed to get to work. No matter how much he honked, and we pestered, she wouldn’t move. She was perfecting her hair with a big bottle of Aqua Net. Afterall, you can’t tell a Swedish mom what to do.
She taught us patience every Sunday morning for which we are thankful. As a schoolteacher for decades at Osseo Senior High, she learned patience from her students. She taught home economics and social studies. She was patient when she beat family members at cards. She is probably playing cards with her “Other Mother” Adeline Hukriede right now. Adeline was always “Our Other Grandmother.” We are certain that our Uncle Gary Hukriede, Aunt Judy Peters, and Aunt Beverly Danielson remember learning patience from mom around the card table, too.
Mom and Dad taught us the most important lesson of all, which St. Paul said it best, “For to me, living is Christ and dying is gain” (Philippians 1:21). We are still learning what this means every day.
We are thankful that Mom and Dad are visiting our family of saints—Grandma Susie McDaniel, Uncle George Palo and Aunt Char Palo, Uncle Bill Palo and Aunt Edith Palo, Aunt Maryann Denny, Uncle Ted Denny, Aunt Deanna Denny, Uncle Virgil Hokanson, Grandma Adeline Hukriede, Grandpa Ray Hukriede, Grandma Judy Hokanson, and Grandpa Arthur Hokanson.
God blessed Mom with nine beautiful grandchildren who will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers: Chris and Max Winebrenner-Palo, Jessica Kline, Allison Kline, Emily Kline, Lily Palo, Julian Palo, Hannah Sorlie-Palo, and AJ Carter. Also, God blessed Mom with two caring daughters-in-law—Holly Palo and Shay Sorlie
Please join us for her funeral at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 W. Broadway, Robbinsdale, MN on December 17, 2021 at 11AM. Visitation will be an hour before the funeral when we can share stories of Mom’s love of Aqua Net, cards, being a Swede, spearmint gum, traveling, blueberries, geraniums, Lake Independence, and Finlanders.
We ask that memorials be given to:
Luther Park Camping and Retreat Center

Danbury, WI 54830
In the 70s, Dad sold the Dodge Dart Swinger with over a quarter million miles for $800; it had a blue body and white top. We don’t know what he is driving now. Yet, we can report that Mom got in the car with him, they zoomed away, and we can marvel at their love story. We love you Mom and Dad.
