May, Harvey Charles May, 85, beloved husband, father and grandfather, was born in St. Nicholas, Minnesota on January 15, 1935 and passed away on October 19, 2020 near his home in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose; siblings, Verena Lorenz, Richard, LeRoy, Rosemary Hylla, and Betty.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine, and their three children; DeeAnn (Michael) Stinebaugh, Timothy (Stephanie), Todd (Kristen Martin), and eight grandchildren: Elizabeth, Abigail, and Emily Stinebaugh; Theodore, Charles, and Henry May; Grainne and Sylvie May. He is also survived by his brother, Elmer; sister, Patty Utsch; brother-in-law, Richard Bergquist; and sister-in-law, Jennifer (Rolland) Roers, and many loving nieces, nephews and precious friends.
Harvey graduated from Cold Spring High School in 1953, and soon afterwards enlisted in the Army. He used the G.I. Bill to begin college in Colorado, where he met Elaine Bergquist. Back in Minneapolis in 1964, a chance encounter with Elaine at a Minneapolis hospital led to love and a devoted marriage that lasted 55 years.
His greatest joys were his faith, family and friends. He was an active parishioner at The Holy Name of Jesus Church in Medina, MN for nearly 50 years, serving in many capacities and building life-long friendships.
He will always be remembered for his endless energy, wit, curiosity and thoughtfulness he brought to his gardening, cooking, travel, and other pursuits. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 30, at 10 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 155 County Road 24, in Medina.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be designated for cancer research at the Mayo Clinic or for the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic School.
