Harold E. Dierdorf

Harold E. Dierdorf, age 79 of Plymouth, passed away Dec 4, 2023. Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. Survived by wife, Nancy; children, Cassie (Derek), Jeffrey (Melissa), Gregory (Anna), and Nathan; 9 grandchildren; sister Janet; and many cherished brothers and sisters by marriage, nieces, and nephews.

Harold was born October 3, 1944 in Ecorse, Michigan, to Harold Sr. and Josephine Dierdorf. He graduated as valedictorian of his class at River Rouge High School and went on to attend Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelors degree in math (Go State!!). Upon graduation, Harold joined the United States Air Force where he served as a pilot and flight instructor, achieving the rank of Captain.  He loved flying and, to quote one of his favorite poems, often reminisced of when he “slipped the surly bonds of earth and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings.” Following his honorable discharge, Harold turned his profession to construction sales and his focus to family.

Harold and Nancy married in November 1977, celebrating their 46th wedding anniversary shortly before Harold passed. Harold had many accomplishments in life, but none more important to him than his family. He took great pride in always providing for his wife and children. He took great joy in his grandchildren. He taught many lessons of friendship, loyalty, courage, respect, determination, and humor. A talented craftsman, Harold could tackle even the most challenging home projects, though he may be most fondly remembered for the simple tree swing out front. Harold brought much love to this world. He will be deeply missed.
