Gilman "Gil" Lambert Miller

Gil passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday February 24, 2018.

Gil is survived by his loving wife, Audrey, of 64 years, and their six children: Michael (Rohey) Miller, Marcy (Hank Hansen) Miller, Nancy (Bill Thorson) Miller, Steve (Marilyn) Miller, Jeff (Char) Miller, Julia (Bill) Kallenberg, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was born in Minot, ND, and attended college at North Dakota State in Fargo where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his early years he joined the National Guard as a Private and earned the rank of First Lieutenant while taking care of Audrey and their children.

His first job out of college and subsequent career over 30 years was with Factory Mutual, specializing in liability and industrial inspection within the engineering division. He then moved into the sales division of Factory Mutual where he sold industrial insurance, which was a career move that he thoroughly enjoyed. He retired from Factory Mutual in 1987 but with little more than a few months off; he joined the Hayes Group in a leadership role, finishing his career in 1997.

When he wasn’t working, he was utilizing his engineering skills and artistic nature to build the family cabin. He put everything he had into making the cabin a beautiful and unique sanctuary in which he could gather with family and friends to enjoy the fruits of his labor in this very special place.
