July 28, 1942 — October 8, 2021

Gerald "Jerry" Douglas Anderson

Jerry passed away peacefully on 10/8/2021.

Survived by wife, Kathleen (nee Vanasek); sons (and their families), Greg (Melissa, Hannah and Axel); and Reid (Becky, Bryce and Zack); brother, Chuck (Marlene) Thomseth; nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, Charles and Ida Anderson.

Jerry retired from Rosemount Engineering after 30+ years. He was a graduate of Mpls. Central HS Class of 1960  and was an avid hunter and a helluva fisherman. He also was a member of the 'Born Again Jocks' of Bloomington, where he enjoyed bowling.

Jerry was involved in youth sports, coaching at Incarnation School in the 1970s. He was a devoted spectator at his sons' games, leaving work early to cheer them on; Greg and Reid were always excited to see their father on the sidelines. Jerry also enjoyed watching the teams his sons coached later in life, connecting with his grandchildren and the younger generation through a shared love of sport.

Jerry also loved gardening, especially growing 50+ varieties of roses over the years. Jerry was part of the Jackson & Perkins (J & P) test program for roses, having tested numerous varieties for Minnesota hardiness. He was proud of his yard and maintained it meticulously, spending hours preening and beautifying the landscape.

Jerry was proud to become a Catholic six years ago on April 4, 2015, and join the parish of St. Thomas the Apostle in Minneapolis.
