George Alexander Novitsky

George A. Novitsky, 91, of Robbinsdale, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends on October 15, 2021.

One of the last of the “Greatest Generation” Originally from Northeast Minneapolis, born at the onset of the Great Depression, caring for his parents and siblings while five of his older brothers served in World War Two. Following the family tradition of service, he volunteered to serve his country during the Korean Conflict serving as an Artillery Sargent with the Fifth Army where he received two bronze stars.

After his military service he married the love of his life Henrietta (Butch) and raised two children. He retired at seventy-eight after a long career in manufacturing and spent the next few years travelling with his wife. After providing care for his loving wife who preceeded him in death he took on a new role dedicating himself to the care of his remaining siblings. He was liked by everyone and always there for family and friends. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren.

Until the sudden onset of his illness, he lived a long and remarkably healthy and inspiring life maintaining his independence and always reaching out to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbors.

Survived by children, Gary (Faith) Novitsky and Laurie Novitsky; grandchildren, Stephanie (Leif), Aaron (Anna), Christopher, Matthew, Stevie, (Zac) and Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Grant, Max, Mia, Josephine, Wayne, Carl and Conrad; brother, Joe.

Preceded in death by wife, Henrietta “Butch” Novitsky, parents Ana and Henry and siblings.

Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 10:45. Those attending should meet in Lane #4 at 10:30 AM.

Memorial Service to follow, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at the John P. Murzyn Hall, 530 Mill St. NE, Columbia Heights, 55421.
