George Chuba, age 87 of Maple Grove, MN passed away Tuesday, December 15 th , 2020.
George was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was well loved by family and friends. George married his dream girl, Leah Green, in 1959 and through that love they created four children, Steve (Deanna), Alan (Yvette), Phil (Sherrie) and Christine (Elliott) and that led to 14 wonderful grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Preceded in death by father, Alexander; mother, Mary; brother, Ron; sister-in-law, Marge and granddaughter, Noelle.
George grew up in the Minneapolis area with his two brothers Ron and Denny. As a youth he loved sports and being on the water boating or skiing. He also had a love for music and often entertained others by playing the piano or accordion. He also sang in the church choir with a deep baritone. George served in the U.S. Army and followed that with getting an Engineering Degree at the U of M. He started his career at Conkey & Associates/ SIMONS/AMEC and had a successful career spanning 4 decades and traveling the world. George was known as an intelligent man, fun loving, a great sense of humor and quite handy with tools having built his home and cabin. George and Leah have been members of St. Joseph the Worker Church since it’s inception and George was heavily involved in the planning and building of the current sanctuary. He was also very involved in the Maple Grove Lions with charitable work and in 2019 he helped raise funds for the Maple Grove Veterans Memorial.
An immediate family memorial will be December 23 rd and will be live-streamed at 2:00 PM by Gearty-Delmore.
A Celebration of Life will be planned later in the year where all are welcome.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family suggests a donation to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. George had served as President of the Minnesota Chapter of JDRF.
