Gene L. Green, 94 of Minneapolis and Chetek, WI died on Thursday, November 19, 2020 surrounded by his family, after a long battle of colon cancer.

Survived by Gene and Frances’s children; Cathy (Kurt) Schnapp, Geoff (Bonnie) Green, Jennifer (Lee) Flesher, Deborah (Michael, deceased) Columbus; grandchildren, Colleen, Erika, Sonja, Michael, Thomas, Stephanie, Daniel, Tony, Ayala, Avital, Esti; great grandchildren, Sydney, Shauna, Jessica, Soren, Emilia, Dylan, Ori, Gali, Ariel, Omer and great-great granddaughter, Madison.

Gene attended South High School and after graduating in 1944 he served in the Navy training as a pilot in Texas and California.  After being released from the service, he attended U of MN School of Architecture graduating 1950.  Upon graduation he joined the firm of Bissel and Belair where in 1961 he became a partner.  Bissel, Belair and Green designed many of the suburban schools in the Twin Cities and other areas in MN.  In the 70’s, the name of the firm changed to Green, Weaver, Nelson and Windsor, specializing in the design of corrugated packaging manufacturing plants throughout the US and Israel.

He had many interests that became lifelong pursuits; flying, skiing, golf and painting.  His desire for flying continued after WWII where he eventually bought his own plane allowing him to travel to many destinations around the country both for business and pleasure.  He enjoyed downhill skiing and on winter weekends loaded up the kids in the station wagon to go out to the slopes. He enjoyed golfing every summer until summer of 2019. At 85, he had his first hole-in-one at Sunset View Golf Course located in Chetek, WI where he had moved in 2003.  When he retired at the age of 82, he was able to seriously spend time honing his talents with watercolors with having several art shows in Rice Lake and Eau Claire, WI.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the many friends he had in Chetek WI who looked out for him until he moved back to Minneapolis in September 2020.

In his 94 years of living, he has experienced life’s joys and sadness while accomplishing much.  We are blessed to have had him as a father for all these years.  He will always be in our hearts forever.
