Gary was born June 8th, 1946 to Harold and Virginia Anderson. He was raised alongside his brothers in Golden Valley and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1964. After high school he attended the University of Minnesota, and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering, which led to a lifelong career with Honeywell.
In 1971 he was married, and had two sons, David and Michael. He enjoyed taking his family on vacation. A few of his destinations were Florida, Mexico and Yellowstone. He also spent time at the family cabin in Central Minnesota, where he relaxed, went fishing, and hunted grouse with his favorite English Springer Spaniels. Gary spent a lot of time in the yard and was always willing to lend a hand to neighbors when needed. He had an eye for a good deal, and would often take detours if he saw a 'Garage Sale' sign on the corner of the road. Menards was his favorite place, where he would buy multiples of something because 'It was on sale’, which he would use to start home projects. He even had the address for the rebate forms memorized.
After retirement, he loved spending time with family and friends. From taking care of his aging parents, to giving life lessons to his sons. But most of all, his grandchildren were his life. He filled his schedule with school and sporting events, along with surprise visits with gifts, or trips to Dairy Queen for ice cream.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Virginia Anderson, and brother Harold Jr. He is survived by his sons David of Albertville, and Michael (Dana Kaping) of Cottage Grove. Four Grandchildren, Stacy (Jacob Pawlowski), Jason, Olivia, Carly and one ‘bonus’ step-grandson, Cody. Brother Neil, and ‘Favorite Sister in Law’ Judy Anderson of Big Lake. Nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
He leaves us all with memories full of love, joy and laughter to be thankful for.
