Frank David Sherman, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Frank was born on March 7, 1932, to David and Margaret (nee Knight) Sherman in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Rowan and Jack, Marlene Phimister.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Laura (nee Israelson); his children, Diane (Rick) Heuring, David (Karla), Paul (Maria), Theresa, Joe (Audrey) and Andrea (Ted) Ingersoll; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Katie Kubinski and Ron; brother-in-law, Eugene Phimister; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
When Frank was in high school, he joined the Naval Reserve and was a member for seven years and played in Laidlaw Region drum corps. Frank became a member of Operating Engineers Local 49 where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years. He is an almost 60-year member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight in the St. Louis Park and St. Michael councils. As District Deputy, he received the New Council Award for the Monticello and Big Lake Councils, and is a charter member of the Ada Council. He was a lector at the Church of St. William in Twin Valley, Minnesota.
Frank sang with church choirs at St. Michael, St. Pascal and Ulen, and the Fountain East chorus in Mesa, Arizona. In Minneapolis he was in the Christian Family Movement. While living in Ulen, he was president of the Ulen Lions Club and Ulen Civic and Commerce, and was a member of the volunteer fire department, city council, and the rescue squad.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 19 at the Church of Saint Pascal Baylon, 1757 Conway St., St. Paul.
Interment St. John's Cemetery, Little Canada.
Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Memorials are preferred to the Church of Saint Pascal Baylon or Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
