Fran Andress, 86, from Omaha, NE, and later Plymouth, MN, lost her battle with Alzheimer’s disease surrounded by the love of her family on January 5, 2024, at Sunrise of Minnetonka memory care facility.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 4-7 PM with memory sharing at 6 PM, at Geary Delmore Funeral Home, 15800 37th Ave North, Plymouth, MN. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held January 10, 2024, at 11 AM with visitation from 10-10:45 AM at St. Therese of Deephaven, 18325 Minnetonka Blvd, Wayzata, MN. There will be a luncheon following the funeral Mass at church.  Fran will be laid to rest on Friday, January 12th at 2:45 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 7710 W Center Rd, Omaha, NE. Following the burial service there will be a reception for family and friends at Legends Patio Grill and Bar Aksarben at 6920 Pacific St Omaha NE starting at 3:30 p.m.

Fran was born August 26, 1937, in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Lebert and Edna Mitchell. Fran married Bob Andress on August 25, 1956. The family moved to Omaha, NE in 1960 and Fran later moved to Plymouth, MN in 1996.

Fran was a full-time stay-at-home mom until 1969, when she went back to college part-time.  She earned a bachelor’s degree in Math and a master’s degree in education administration.  She taught high-school math at Cathedral and Tech high schools.  She then worked as a Business Analyst at Mutual of Omaha as well as becoming a project management consultant for PRC Consulting.  When she retired in 1999, she became an avid quilter and was an active member of the Maple Grove Quilters. One of her quilts won a blue ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair, and over the years, Fran made hundreds of quilts for new graduates, weddings, and new babies.

Despite Fran’s physical and mental decline inflicted on her by Alzheimer’s, Fran somehow managed to retain her witty sense of humor and make us smile. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caring staff of Saint Therese at Oxbow Lake, Sunrise of Minnetonka, and Park Nicollet Hospice.

Fran is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who passed away at the age of 59 in 1994, and her great-grandson, Kolbe Duffy, who was stillborn in 2017.  Fran will be deeply missed by her sister, Linda Lewis, her children Matt (Diane) Andress, Kevan Willington, Tami Andress, Angie (Aziz) Longou, Lynne (Tim) Powers, her 10 grandchildren Ryan (Tracy) Andress, Chris (Abby) Andress, Lauren (Jerod) Smit, Alex Guggisberg, Brandon Andress, Omar Longou, Cherif Longou, Megan Powers, Elizabeth Powers, and Eric (Alison) Duffy, and her 14 great-grandchildren Jillian Andress, Callie Andress, Charlotte Andress, Olivia Andress, Madelyn Andress, Hailey Kirchhevel, Jackson Smit, Kinsley Smit, Maebel Duffy, Myles Duffy, Chiara Duffy, Eden Duffy, Elsie Duffy, and Gemma Duffy.
