Evelyn Rose (Stachura) Romens, formerly of Protivin, Iowa, passed away at age 87 on September 16, 2022, in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Evelyn was one of eleven born on Feb 6, 1935 in Mosinee, Wisconsin to Stanley and Lucia (Hilber) Stachura. She was united in marriage to Elmo Henry Romens February 16th, 1957 in Slinger, WI. Evelyn and Elmo were the owner/operators of the Protivin Locker until 1983. She then sold advertising for a local newspaper. She enjoyed going on walks, dancing, and playing cards but mostly talking with friends and family about her faith, kids, grandkids, and her greats.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo; brothers, James, Howard, Donald, Raymond and Charles; sisters, CeCelia, Berniece, Gertrude and Marian.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Randall (Theresa), Reanne Harper (Richard), Ronald (Sue), Ryan (Sonya), Roger, Rhonda Miller (Jeff), Rajean Eldridge (Ernie), Rebecca Schwarzentruber (Brian) and Rochelle Horinek (Tom); and sister, Lorraine. She has 42 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family members may attend the visitation at Gearty Delmore Funeral Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave S, St Louis Park, MN 55416 on Monday, September 26 from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 5900 W Lake St, St Louis Park, MN 55416.
Burial and graveside service will be in Protivin, IA on Tuesday, September 27th at 1:00 PM with social time immediately following at the Holy Trinity Community Hall.
