Eugene John Stroebl

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene John Stroebl, age 70, of Plymouth, on February 7, 2022.

Survived by wife of 48 years, Janet; daughter, Katherine Lickteig (Mark); son, Thomas (Natasha); grandsons, Maximilian, Xavier, and Alexander Lickteig; siblings, Larry, Melanie Cardinal (Robert), Michael, and Marsha Everhardt (William); and many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by parents, John and Jane.

Eugene graduated from North High School and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, where he met his wife. He had a long career primarily in food systems process engineering, was a partner at Food Systems Design, and worked for Power Engineers, Pillsbury, Redmond Products, and Dow Corning.

He spent his retirement years engaging in hobbies, such as wood carving and playing piano; meeting with a local community group to keep up on the latest computer technologies; visiting regularly with family and friends; and traveling overseas. He was an avid reader of history, which he referenced often when discussing current events.  He enjoyed watching the birds visit his many feeders around the yard, particularly the different woodpecker varieties, and he was always innovating ways to thwart the squirrels.

He valiantly fought an almost 7-year battle with Multiple Myeloma and never let it slow him down. He will be dearly missed.

Celebration of Life service 11 AM Saturday, Feb. 19, with visitation at 10, at Messiah United Methodist Church, Plymouth; the service will be livestreamed on the church's website at 11 AM on Feb. 19. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery, Mpls.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to IMF or Messiah UMC .
