Eugene "Gene" D. Back

Eugene Back, 83, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 2, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota to David and Dorothy Back. He worked for Creamettes for 25 years before becoming a much beloved head custodian for the Wayzata School District. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, who enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and traveling.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith Back; children, Veronica Glosser (James), David Back (Margaret), and Michael Back (Amanda); his grandchildren, Jared, Michelle, Austin, and Cara; and great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Tommy; his sister, Shirley Playle; and brother, Keith Back (Norma); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gary and Allen.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18 at Knollwood Christian Church, 3639 Quebec Ave. S., St. Louis Park, MN. Reviewal will be one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory.
