Thurman, Ethel Verla Georgia (Pederson) 84 of Bloomington (formerly of Robbinsdale), passed away May 2, 2017. Ethel was born February 22, 1933 in Minneapolis. She is survived by daughters Claudia (James) Dilts, Catherine Baker, Rebecca (Jeffrey) Cornell ; brother Edward (Marie) Pederson ; 4 grandchildren, Steven Baker, Mitchell Wojcik, Matthew and Megan Cornell and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by husband Roland (Bud) Thurman to whom she was happily married for 56 years ; parents Edward and Ursa Pederson ; sisters Margaret Myklebye and Doris Burton ; daughter Cynthia ; and son Michael. Ethel was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. She was employed by school district 281 and worked for many years in fashion apparel. Ethel was very involved in her community and her church. She was a member of the Robbinsdale Lioness Club, Robbinsdale Whiz Bang Days Committee, and served a President of Minnesota Chiefs of Police Wives. Dearest to her heart were her grandchildren to whom she enjoyed watching many sporting events and activities. Ethel’s family offers special thanks to Allina Hospice and the staff at The Rivers Senior Memory Care in Burnsville. Memorials preferred to Elim Lutheran Church.
Visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Interment Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
