Ernest Edwin Johnson

Ernest Edwin Johnson, born March 12, 1933, entered eternal glory on January 19, 2017. Born in Finlayson, MN to Edwin and Mary (Pahkala) Johnson, Ernest was the middle of three sons. He is preceded in death by both parents, older brother James and younger brother Robert. He was baptized and confirmed in the Finnish Lutheran Church and lived out his faith.

Married to Darlene (Osladil) Johnson for 57 years, Ernie lost the love of his life on August 26, 2013. While starting their family, Ernie and Darlene lived in Finlayson and Chicago and finally settled in Brooklyn Center, MN where Ernie finished their new home on evenings and weekends in which he lived from 1960 until his death.

Ernie co-owned Motor Services Center in Finlayson, sailed the Great Lakes, served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean war, and finally spent most of his life as a construction superintendent working for Turner, Magney, Sheehy, Everest, and McCarthy Construction.

Known for his integrity, loyalty, and faithfulness, Ernie will be deeply missed by his family - sons Rev. Jeffrey (Terri) Johnson, Cleveland, OH; Dr. Phillip (Sandy) Johnson, Maplewood, MN; daughters Katherine (Rev. Glen) Schlecht, Loveland CO; Kimberly (Mark) Pieper, Plymouth, MN; 15 grandchildren and spouses and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Eternal Hope Lutheran Church.

Visitation one hour before the service at the church.

Three cemeteries share the land: Finnish Lutheran Cemetery, Peace Lutheran Cemetery and St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Luncheon at Peace Lutheran Church in Finlayson following the burial.
