Erna O. Erlandson (Turner), 100, of Crystal, went to be with Jesus on Easter Sunday, April 17,
2022. She is preceded in death by husbands Laurence Turner, Charles Erlandson and four
siblings.
Erna was born May 9th, 1921, in Madison Minnesota to Ernest and Alma Tenney, the fifth of
five girls.
She loved music, singing with sisters and family around the piano. She loved to play hymns for
herself on the piano and was a member of the church choir. Erna married her high school
sweetheart, Larry Turner in 1942 and raised five children. They were very active in their
church. The family enjoyed camping, especially the Black Hills. Larry went to be with the Lord
in 1970. Erna spent her working years as a secretary, most of them she worked for a real
estate appraiser who was also her neighbor.
Erna married Charles Erlandson in 1975. They enjoyed three winters in Florida, and also
traveled to Ecuador where Dan and Mary were missionaries. Chuck went to be with the Lord in
1984.
She spent eight years with her dear friend Don Davies until his death in 2013.
Erna enjoyed spending time with her sisters and friends, traveling many places including
visiting relatives in Sweden. Her first visit to Sweden was when she was 8 years old on the ship
“Aquatania” Cunnard Line with her parents. Erna’s mother came to America when she was 16
years old. Her father had promised this trip to Sweden to see her family. Erna, being the
youngest daughter was able to go with her parents. What wonderful memories.
She loved people and had several nieces and nephews who would often come to visit, knowing
that she always had a pot of coffee and a treat ready.
She is survived by her children Carol Chatterton (Dennis), Richard Turner (Susan), James Turner
(Jan), Dean Turner (Lori), Mary Turner (Ron Stoltz), Nancy Petersen, Charles Erlandson
(MaryLou), and Mary Swanson (Dan).
Grandchildren David Chatterton (Missy), Andrew Chatterton, Lori Litynski (Matt), Cindy Menth
(Ben), Michelle Hicks (Brian), Krista Sumner (Carlton), Rebecca Lepage (Adam), Matthew

Debbie Trettin (John), Tom Petersen (Andrea), Tim Petersen (Starr) deceased, Peter Swanson
