Eric Weimert

Eric Louis Weimert, age 49, of Plymouth, MN passed away May 20, 2024 after a short, aggressive battle with pancreatic cancer. His life was filled with kindness, passion for fun, and love for his family and friends. Eric had a positive impact on everyone he met with his fun & optimistic outlook on life.

Eric was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, & employee. He was born in Wisconsin on Mar 11, 1975, and he earned his engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He met his wife, Michelle, in a summer internship while in college. Upon graduation, they moved to Minneapolis, MN and married in July 2001. They have been blessed with 4 children, two girls and two boys that they often refer to as "perfect chaos". Eric was involved in every aspect of his kids' lives, including changing diapers, playing football in the backyard, helping with homework, watching Marvel & DC movies, slipping them whoopie cushions when they weren't looking, pillow & tickle fights, and teaching them to fish & hunt.

One of Eric's best qualities was his ability to connect with every person he met. It never mattered your age, job, or personality as he could always find a topic to chat about with anyone. His fun, kid-like demeanor made him a favorite of everyone. Whether it be a birthday party, work event, a backyard bonfire, or playing cards around the table, Eric was always having fun and making it entertaining for everyone around him.

With friends and family, Eric was always the life of the party. His comedic comments and animated personality had everyone laughing during every social event. His cheering for the Packers could be heard down the street. Eric loved card games, and he made it fun for everyone with his booming voice and being a relentless bidder. When fishing, you could count on his hooting and hollering when anyone caught a fish, no matter the size.

As an employee on the IT team of Xcel Energy for 20+ years, Eric was highly respected by his team members because of his leadership style. He was the calm, methodical voice in every conversation. Eric also knew how to bring fun to the workplace with his never-ending banter.

Eric taught us that you can have fun no matter what you do in life. His legacy will live on in his four children and in each of us whom he has touched.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the University of Minnesota Fairview medical staff for their dedication in supporting Eric during his cancer journey, giving him the utmost care so that we could enjoy his last months together. Also, the family appreciates the care provided by Grace Hospice and J. A. Wedum Hospice in his last weeks with us.

Eric is survived by his wife Michelle Weimert of 22 years of marriage; children Adeline (Addie) Weimert, Alexander (Lex) Weimert, Hilary (Hilly) Weimert, Colton Weimert; parents David & Linda (Geissler) Weimert, sisters Jennifer Koziar (Jason), Nicole Pilch (Randy), Michelle Colletti, and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and friends.
