Elizabeth Ann (Lyman) Spartz "Betty" passed away peacefully January 4, 2022, in the comfort of her family. Betty was born on July 17, 1933, in Minneapolis, MN. She was a graduate of St Margaret's Academy class of 1951 and attended Mankato State Teacher's College where she acquired a teaching degree and met the love of her life Philip Spartz. They were married in Minneapolis, MN in 1954 and lived in St Louis Park where they had 6 children prior to moving to Golden Valley in 1965. She was a devout Catholic and active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Golden Valley where she heartfully dedicated countless hours of service to the parish community. She spent the last few years of her life at The Glenn in Hopkins. She was able to continue being sociable and participate in activities she enjoyed including her favorite…Bingo.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Philip Spartz; parents, Frank and Marie Lyman; sister, Rosemary Tuffs and husband, Larry. She is survived by her 6 children, Theresa Karels (Mike), Thomas (Karen), Connie Renier (Joe), Mike (Laurie), Patty McMonigal, Bill (Laura); grandchildren, Jenny Rolfes (Joe), Jackie Brady (Mike), Jeff Renier (Brittany), Jeana Tusa (Max), Sarah Karels, Kayla Keiner (Brian), Lindsay Spartz, Allyson Spartz, Kyle McMonigal (Sheila), Ben Spartz, Melissa Spartz, McKenzie Spartz; and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
The family would like to recognize and Thank the Community at The Glenn in Hopkins for providing a safe and nurturing place for her to spend her final years. The staff at Methodist Hospital Emergency Room and 8 th floor for providing exemplary care, peace and grace for her final hours.
Visitation Sunday (1/9), 3-6 PM with prayer service and memory sharing at 5 PM at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Avenue So., St. Louis Park. Mass of Christian Burial Monday (1/10), 10:30 AM with visitation starting at 9:30 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 145 Jersey Ave. So., Golden Valley. Interment Ft. Snelling. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the following: The Glenn Catholic Senior Communities/Benevolent Fund and Good Shepherd Church/School. The Mass will be streamed on Good Shepherd’s Facebook page. Mask are requested.
