Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann (Reck) Reiff

Elizabeth "Betsy" Ann (Reck) Reiff passed away on March 3, 2017, at her home in Plymouth, Minnesota, after a more than two year struggle with cancer. She was 34.

Betsy was born June 30, 1982, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Rev. William Reck and Loree (Newcomb) Reck and grew up in Crookston, Minnesota. She graduated from Crookston High School in 2000 and Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, in 2003 where she obtained a bachelor's degree in nursing.

Immediately upon graduating from college, Betsy began working as a nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Betsy became a nurse because of her love for others and desire to serve those in need.

Betsy loved and was loved by many. Her friends call her "[o]ne of the kindest, gentlest, and most unselfish human beings" who "show[ed] the light of God's love to everyone." Her love and faith were central to her life as Betsy ministered to those around her in Rochester and around the world, making multiple trips to Moldova to do medical mission work for the destitute.

"In life she exuded sunshine, kindness, and generosity." In death, she showed unwavering love and faith. Despite the toils and hardships of her cancer struggle, her final words were, "I want to go to the Father."

Instrumental in her life were her membership in the groups "Salt and Light" and "Bible Study Fellowship" (BSF). Many of Betsy's lifelong and wonderful friendships were formed in these groups, friendships founded on faith and love with friends who richly blessed Betsy, especially in her most difficult hours. Even as Betsy was packing up to rush to the emergency room for her final hospital visit, she told her husband, "Don't forget to grab my Bible and BSF worksheet."

All those who met her were richly blessed by her deep and abiding love, firm faith, and bubbly and infectious personality. From her ready smile to her gentle moral certainty to her enthusiasm for life to her deep introspection, Betsy was a joy and an inspiration for all who took the time to get to know her.

Betsy was a woman of remarkable faith leading a Godly life; she also made every day one of joy and laughter as she never lost her inner child. All those who knew her loved her laugh, which was ready and genuine. Betsy always managed to find the bright side in every situation, even in her cancer. While her cancer prevented her from having children of her own, Betsy loved children and was a veritable baby whisperer.

Betsy is survived by her husband, Daniel. They were married on September 13, 2014. She is predeceased by her mother, Loree Reck. She is also survived by her father, William Reck, and stepmother, Jill Reck; brothers, Samuel, Peter, and Matthew Reck; father-in-law, Paul Reiff, and mother-in-law, Raychel Reiff; sisters-in-law, Kristell Reck, Melanie Reck, Allison Reck, Anna Reiff, Marija Reiff, and Rebekah Foster; brothers-in-law, Peder Reiff, Michael Long, and Taylor Foster; nieces, Loree, Evelyn, Kathryn, Peyton, Bella, and Elsa Reck, as well as nieces, Elizabeth Reiff, Valerie Foster, and Solveig Long; nephews, Christian Reck, Christopher Reiff, and Paul Calvin Foster; and step-siblings, Heather (Robert) Mayer and son Finley, Jon (Martha) Mielke and sons Bo and Solomon, and Holly (Daniel) Paul.
