Elaine Edith (Broders) Swinland
Elaine Edith (Broders) Swinland, born in St. Paul, MN on April 2, 1924, passed on to her eternal home on December 29, 2021, surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by parents, Elizabeth Catherine (Margwarth) Broders (1903-1990) and Henry William Broders (1894-1974); husband, Horace John Swinland; sisters, Betty (Broders) Albert and Shirley (Broders) Whitten.
Elaine graduated from Hill-Murray High School in 1942, and she maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates. Elaine also lived in Peoria, IL for many years. While in Peoria, she was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and a frequent blood donor. She was also an avid reader, a champion at word games, and a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
At the time of her passing, Elaine lived at Legacy Care Homes in Minnetonka, MN. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Swinland) Fleming and Janet (Swinland) LaFrence; six grandchildren, Brian, Daniel, Christopher and Jeffrey LaFrence, Rebecca (Fleming) Miller and Valerie Fleming; five great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Olivia, Henry and Maxwell Miller and Adeline LaFrence.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the American Cancer Society and/or please donate blood in memory of Elaine.
Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, 4601 W. War Memorial Dr., Peoria, IL 61615. Family and friends will meet for scripture readings and prayers at the Swan Lake Memory Gardens Chapel on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 2pm.
