Robbinsdale,
Dwayne D. Brant, 82. Born and raised in Northeast Minneapolis and died in Northeast of stroke and dementia. He died peacefully with family around him.
He went to St. Anthony of Padua grade school, from there to De La Salle High School, where he graduated in 56.
Dwayne worked for NSP for 44 years in the Meter Reader Department except for the 2 years he was in the Army, before he was married.
As he told his fellow workers on the day he retired – “You’ll never get rich working this job but the hours were great and I was able to help my sons Greg and Bob through University of St. Thomas”.
Dwayne met the absolute love of his life, Betty Tell, at the age of 17 – she was 16. Both sets of parents said that they were too young to fall in love. Six years later they were married and have loved each other passionately ever since for 59 years on May 5.
Dwayne was the best husband and dad in the world. Never left the house or returned without giving Betty a kiss. She did the same to him. He helped coach both sons in football when they were young. He never missed an event they were in be it football, wrestling, track or band.
He loved sharing a beer with his boys and grandsons when they were old enough.
Dwayne adored each and every one of his four grandkids and tried to get to every event they were in also.
When they were young he took them to places where he grew up, showing them everything about Northeast Minneapolis.
Dwayne had a very quick wit even on his death bed. He was kind and thoughtful. Everyone will miss his great smile.
He is survived by loving wife, Betty; sons, Greg (Terri) and Bob (Kelly); Also survived by grandchildren, Nick, Ashley, Adam and Bella Brant; sister-in-law, Darlene Brant, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Marge and Mike Gleason.
He is preceded in death by his infant twin sons; mom, Josephine Brant Patterson; dad, Gordon Brant; three brothers, LeRoy (Bud) and wife Lois, Don and wife Kathleen, and Roger. Dwayne will be missed by all.
Many thanks to the wonderful staff on the 3 rd floor at Catholic Eldercare, especially Libby Bodine and Tracy Brusted, who took such wonderful care of Dwayne while he was there. Also thanks to the staff of Alina Hospice for their care.
