Dr. Joseph Cella

 Preceded in death by wife Patricia (Gans); and parents Joseph and Helen.

Joseph will be deeply missed by his wife Pam; children Cathy (John Ellingboe), Chris (Justo Nunez), Joe (Jane), John (Jonell), Jim (Carla), Tom (Corinn) and step-daughter Christa (Dan Severson). Adored by grandchildren Peter (Elizabeth), Mary, Sarah and Anna (Ellingboe); Alyson, Justin, Christopher and Jordan (Nunez); Krista and Erin (John); Joe, Maryn and Jack (Jim); Emma and Tommy (Tom); step-granddaughters Sydney and Taylor as well as great-granddaughter Josie (Peter).

Joseph graduated from Marquette Medical School in 1952. He completed his residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and finished his fellowship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Joseph moved to Minneapolis in 1957 and went on to become a highly successful Obstetrics and Gynecology practitioner for over 40 years in the Twin Cities area. During that time he served as Chief of Staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and earned numerous awards for his outstanding commitment to patient care.

Joseph was also devoted to giving back and was involved in stewardship to Our Lady of Grace Church and the American Cancer Society.

Joseph relished time spent at family gatherings with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. A voracious reader, he also enjoyed spending time at the lake. He will be remembered for his generosity towards others, quiet compassion and love of his family.

Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to American Cancer Society.
