age 87, of Wayzata, MN passed away on November 3, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; parents, Carl and Helvie Carlson; brothers, Bill, Duane, Jerry and sister, Virginia. She is survived by her children MaryEllen, David (Kim), Steve (Sarah Alston) and Tom (Cheryl); sister, Audella Stamnes; brothers, Sheldon (Lorraine) and Lee (Joanne) Carlson. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Rachel (Reid) Tuenge, Betsy, John and Hannah Brooks, Kristin (Gabor) Danko, Mikey (Sneha), Ian, Erin and Cormac Barry; great-grandsons, Alex and Liam Danko and Brooks and Graham Tuenge.
Doreen was born on August 16, 1931 in Lancaster, MN. She graduated from Lancaster High School June 2, 1950 and moved to the Twin Cities in the summer of 1950 to attend Minnesota School of Business. In Minneapolis, she met a young accountant who had recently relocated from California and they wed on Feb. 19, 1955. They had 59 wonderful years and 4 children together. After raising her children, she went back to work at Grant Thornton. Doreen was gifted with a beautiful soprano voice. All throughout her life and especially upon retiring, she used her gift to cantor at church and sing in the choir. She also spent many years singing with the Plymouth Rockers. She was first and foremost a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. We will miss you G.G. Thank you to all the caregivers who helped us through this journey; The Glenn, Hopkins; Friendship Village, Bloomington; English Rose Suites, Blake Road and Park Nicollet Hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 am Friday at St Mary of the Lake Church, 105 N. Forestview Lane, Plymouth. Visitation Thursday 5-7pm at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave. S., St. Louis Park and Friday at the church 1 hour before Mass. Int. Resurrection Cemetery, Shorewood. Memorials preferred to St. Mary of the Lake Church, Plymouth Rockers or the Alzheimers Association.
