Donald Arthur Tinker, age 94, formerly of Brooklyn Center, passed away from natural causes, on March 27, 2021.
Donald Arthur Tinker was born on August 26, 1926 in Minneapolis, MN. He was the third of four children of Clarence and Dorothy (Fitzpatrick) Tinker. He attended Ascension Catholic School and graduated from De La Salle High School in 1943. At age 17, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served for four years, spending some of his time on-board the USS Rockingham in the South Pacific.
Don married Elizabeth (Betty) Clasemann on August 23, 1952 in Long Prairie, MN. They bought a house in Brooklyn Center that was expanded as the family grew. Don and Betty had two sons (Mark, Richard) and three daughters (Lori, Angela, Carolyn). Don worked for Larson Chevrolet in Minneapolis and Walser Chevrolet in Plymouth until retirement in 1989. They were active members of St. Austin’s Parish in Minneapolis, where Don was a member of the church choir and often lead the congregation in song. He loved music and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Choir in Crystal for many years.
Don and Betty enjoyed time with the family and travel and spent many summers travelling all over the country with their camper and later, an RV. They liked to play cards (500 and Bridge) with friends and at social gatherings.
In 2015 they sold their home of 63 years and moved into St. Therese in Brooklyn Park, MN.
Preceded in death by sons, Mark and Richard, brother James Tinker, sisters Doris (Lloyd) Keeney, and Betty (Howard) Johnson.
Survived by wife of 68 years, Betty, daughters Lori (David) Henke, Angela (Greg) Trost, and Carolyn Frounfelter, 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and relatives.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday, March 31 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 4087 W. Broadway, Robbinsdale.
Visitation one hour prior to Mass.
Private interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
