Donald “Don” Cariveau passed away peacefully in Minneapolis on July 27, 2022 of natural causes. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Gearty Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. N, Plymouth, Minnesota. Visitation will be one half hour prior to the Saturday service at the funeral home.
Don was born July 30, 1937 to Edward and Stella (Peterson) Cariveau in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is survived by his brother, Dean (Jan) Cariveau and their children and grandchildren; and his sister, Diane (Archie) Matuska and their children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Stella Cariveau.
Don’s big heart and generous spirit will be missed by all. He always thought of others and had a way of making people feel special, whether that meant taking extra time to mentor and support a colleague at work, or making a special trip to get ice cream for a neighbor just because they mentioned it in a casual conversation.
Don loved Elvis, the Twins and Western Movies. He knew a lot about cars and was often found watching his nephews race theirs. You also may have found him down at Monty’s playing cribbage or finding somewhere to break out his pool cue. He always lit up a room and his quick wit and wink will never be forgotten. His time in the Army meant a lot to him and his family, and we thank him for his generous service.
