Don was born in Freeport, MN and graduated from Upsala High School. He served in the U.S. Army and married his high school sweetheart, Kathy. He was a graduate of Northwestern Electronics Institute (NEI College of Technology) and was a Production Engineer with Honeywell for 34 years, of which 18 years he was a field representative in the Military Avionics Division where the family lived in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Smyrna, Georgia. He was a member of the Hamel American Legion, Lions and the Knights of Columbus.
Don was devoted to his family and was a devout Catholic. He treasured family, church, and country. He was known as “the guy with a plan.” He enjoyed winters with many friends in Fiesta Village in southern Texas.
Survived by loving wife of 59 years, 11 months, Kathy; children Kevin (Lisa), Marvin (Cheryl) and Karen; grandchildren Kimberly, Brian (Kaitlin), Steven (Heidi), Collin, David and Nathan; siblings Richard (Rita), Helen, Irene (Gene), Fred, John (Marlys), David (Gay), sister-in-law Marie, many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Preceded in death by baby Lauren, parents Fred and Elizabeth, siblings Alice (Tony), Jerome (Marina), James, Ervin (Marilyn) and sister-in-law Evie.
There will be a private family visitation Monday at Gearty-Delmore in Plymouth as well as the
Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday May 5 at the Church of St. Anne, Hamel. Interment St. Anne Cemetery.
Memorials preferred to St. Anne’s Church.
