Dolores J. Maki (Dee, Big Gram and the bowling Granny) Age 92, of Maple Grove.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Dee was born in January 1928 in McKeesport, PA. She moved to Minnesota in 1950 after she met and married Irl E. Maki, a native of New York Mills, MN. Dee and Irl lived and raised a family in Robbinsdale for 20 years and then moved to a hobby farm in Plymouth.
Dee had a kind, loving heart, wonderful smile, infectious laugh and quirky sense of humor even when she wasn't trying to be funny. She brought joy to and was loved by everyone that knew her.
She was known for knitting, crocheting, bowling, and never missing the Wheel of Fortune show. She had to step away from bowling just before her 90th birthday. But not before leaving a few 75 year olds in the dust!
Preceded in death by husband, Irl, sons Thomas and Brian. Survived by daughters, Mary (Susan C.) Maki, Teresa Maki, Cathy Cheslock Petersen, Sue Maki, Liz (Brian) Illgen; sons Joe (Denice) Maki, Charlie (Pat) Maki and John (Jacqueline) Maki; many granddaughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters and great-grandsons, nieces, nephews, wonderful friend of 50 years, Cathy Olson and many friends from the leagues she bowled with over 4 1/2 decades in Robbinsdale/Crystal/New Hope.
A private interment will be held in the spring.
