Survived by wife, Julene; sons, Richard (Anne) Swanson and Robert Swanson; daughter, Shelley Scholtes; step-children, Leslie (Jean) Evenson, David (Diane) Evenson, LuAnn Evenson, Sandra McCline, Scott Evenson, Lisa (Craig) Nordholm; grandchildren, Joshua (Katelin) Swanson, Justin Swanson, Kayla Swanson, Adeline Scholtes, Josephine Scholtes, Nick Zyoc, Luke (Cristin) Evenson, Jacob (Katie) Evenson, Michael (Emily) Guerber, Marie (Jay) Smith, Matthew (Elisa) McCline, Daniel (Emily) McCline), Breanna Brusse and Brett Brusse; great-grandchildren, Cora, Lydia, Maverick, Isabella, Aubrey, and Abigail; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dean was the past president of NAPUS and was the Postmaster for many years in Hamel and Excelsior. He lived in Crosslake for over 30 years, where he served for many years on the Crosslake City Council.
Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
