David A. Weidenfeller

September 6, 1968 — December 17, 2020

David A. Weidenfeller

Age 52 of Minnetonka, passed away unexpectedly on December 17.  His family, lifelong friends, hunting companions and co-workers mourn his loss.  All will miss his love and companionship, captivating smile and wit and competitive spirit, but find comfort that David is in eternal peace and happiness, sharing a duck blind with his beloved father, Ted.

David was born on September 6, 1968 in Wayzata to Virgene (Gin) and Theodore (Ted) Weidenfeller.  Following his graduation from Wayzata High School in 1987, David attended St. Cloud State University where the highlight was time spent studying in Denmark and obtained his MPA from Hamline University.  He had a successful and diverse career serving in roles ranging from Executive Director of Minnesota DARE, starting his own garbage hauling company to his most recent and personally rewarding position as Director of Fleet Operations at Eureka Recycling.  David was an active member of the Wayzata Masonic Lodge 205 and cherished his friends and colleagues in his Lakeville AA Squad.

David always had a smile that lit up the room.  He had a true passion for the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish with his father, brothers, sons and friends.  He enjoyed Twins baseball, Vikings games, family golf events, live concerts and music with a particular fondness for the Beatles.  And he was always happy to find a good deal!  But David’s greatest love and gift to the world was his family.  He leaves behind a lasting legacy in his children, Patrick, Megan, Riley and Jude and granddaughter, Rhenna

He is survived by wife, Kelly Weidenfeller; children, Patrick (Emily Tank), Megan, Riley and Jude Weidenfeller; mother, Gin Weidenfeller; brothers, Bradley (Karen) Weidenfeller, Brian (Bonnie) Weidenfeller; sister, Nancy Weidenfeller (Steve Wetzell), and granddaughter, Rhenna Weidenfeller.  He was preceded in death by his father, Ted.

A private service for immediate family will be held.  Public services to celebrate David’s life will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to a Go Fund Me page established by David’s good friends and co-workers at Eureka Recycling at https://gofund.me/0a095cdc or by check payable to Kelly Weidenfeller care of Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave. So., St. Louis Park, MN  55416.
