In loving memory of David Tupa, 92 years young, who peacefully passed away Sunday night, October 27th, 2024, with his family by his side after a recent diagnosis of progressive brain cancer. He fought hard to the end. He was in an assisted living facility.
David was a decades long member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Golden Valley, MN. He served as Grand Knight of The Father George Council in Plymouth, MN and as a Faithful navigator of the Nicollet Assembly in Minneapolis. He was a proud veteran of the United States army from 1950 - 1954. He served in the Korean War, and he was honorably discharged.
He went on to further schooling at the State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND. He studied drafting and estimating. He started Lyman Lumber Company in July of 1962. He was employed as a draftsman estimated and city desk employee. After being employed for more than 30 years, he retired.
David was a people person and had strong opinions on every subject. He enjoyed gardening, babies, Bohemian cooking - especially kolache and potato dumplings. His favorite T.V. program is E.W.T.N.
He is survived by wife, Joyce (Jarus) (married 62 years); daughter, Mary Zavoral; sons, Brian and Craig (Michelle) Tupa; grandchildren, Cory (Carla McGraw) Zavoral, Sara Zavoral (Jay Heard); several great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister, Eva Fjeld; and brother, Clarence Tupa.
He is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Adela Tupa; sister, Margaret Meagher; brothers, Edward and John Tupa; brother-in-law, Charlie Fjeld; and sister-in-law, Nancy Tupa.
Visitation Monday, November 4th from 5 to 7 pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Golden Valley. Funeral Service Tuesday, November 5th at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Golden Valley. Service 10:30 am, Visitation one hour prior.
