Survived by mother, Marie Quam; father, Robert (Gail) Quam; brother, Jeff (Jackie) Quam; sisters Kathryn Quam and Allison Quam; nephew Ritter Quam; and many loving relatives and friends. In his youth, David rode the unicycle, performed magic, and intrigued his younger siblings with his home science experiments. David was a lover of classical music, a chemistry and math whiz, and a life-long student of world religions, world history, philosophy, and astronomy. He enjoyed chess, once beating world chess champion Roman Dzindzichashvili (who forfeited after a pawn pass). David was a computer programmer by vocation and for pleasure, and a former member of Mensa. He played the piano, organ, harp, autoharp, and tuba. He had a beautiful bass singing voice and sang in several choirs. Above all, David was honest, gentle, and loyal - pure of heart and soul.
