David E. Olson

David was born November 2, 1947, the second youngest of 10 children and lived in Deer Park, WI.  After graduating from Amery, WI high school, David went into the Army and proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Army in combat in Viet Nam.

After returning from service, David went back to what he knew best – driving semi.  He relocated to Zimmerman, MN where he met his wife, Pam in 1983.  They married on Sept. 28, 1985 and moved to Greenfield, MN where they have lived ever since.  They were blessed with son, Jacob and daughter-in-law, Sarah.  The blessings continued with the four grandchildren – Destiny, Emma, Ashley and Carter.

David and Pam enjoyed the outdoors – while Jake was growing up, much time was spent at the family cabin where we enjoyed water sports, fishing, 4-wheeling and up-north Minnesota.  After David and Pam became “empty nesters”, they pursued traveling and 4-wheeling.  David retired at 66 and enjoyed visiting with all his local friends and townspeople.

Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cancer in July of 2016 – and after a courageous year-long battle, he passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on June 13, 2017 at age 69.  Dave’s kind nature, gentle spirit and especially his sense of humor will be greatly missed by family and friends.

David will be forever in the hearts of his wife, Pam; son, Jake and daughter-in-law, Sarah; grandchildren, Destiny, Emma, Ashley and Carter; sisters and brother Bev Owen, Liz Jahnke, Larry(Diane) Olson, Dolly (Jim) Hemauer and many other loving relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Helen (Hanson) and Sheldon Olson, brothers Dick (Richard), Roy (Marlene-Living), Darryl (Carol-Living), Allen (Bev-Living) and sister Barb Polfus.

Military Honors immediately after the service. Celebration of David's life will be following at David and Pam's home at 5715 Townhall Drive, Greenfield, MN.
