Darlene Mae (nee) Buchheim Morrow, age 94 of Plymouth.
My Father, G. Leigh, came and took my Mother home on May 28th, 2020. She died of the Coronavirus. Darlene was born on August 25, 1925, to William and Martha Buchheim. She was born at home on the family farm in Pumpkin Center South Dakota. The farm had no running water, electricity or central heat. She was fourth of six children. She and her siblings would walk one mile to a one room schoolhouse where they attended grades1-8. Darlene graduated from Humboldt High School in 1943. She attended Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls South Dakota. In the early 60's she moved to Minneapolis, MN. where she worked for Brush and Morrow, Consulting Engineers. In 1963, with the help of her younger sister Bette, and Horace, a family friend, Darlene and her boss, G. Leigh, eloped to Las Vegas and got married. On October 16th 1964, she gave birth to her only child, Bette Dawn. Darlene and G. Leigh enjoyed golfing and spent countless days at the Wayzata County Club in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Darlene traveled with G. Leigh as he played in pro-am golf tournaments and she even played in the 1985 Frontier Hotel Highland Spring Fling.
She is survived by daughter, Bette Dawn Morrow; brother, Durwood "Bud" Buchheim (Dona); sister, Bette Lou Knight; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Greyson Leigh Morrow; parents, William and Martha; sister, Berdella; brothers, Howard and Billy. Funeral service 12:00 noon Thursday, June 11th at Gearty-Delmore Chapel of Plymouth, 15800 37th Ave. N. with visitation beginning at 11AM. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to family.
