Daniel Alan Coffin

December 4, 1952 — December 26, 2021

Daniel Alan Coffin

Dan is survived by wife, Kristi; siblings, Barbara Case (Richard), Richard Coffin (Debbie Gould), Mike Coffin and Lori Poquette (Patrick McRaith); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by mother, Alice Coffin; father, Wayne "Bud" Coffin; sister, Patricia Diethelm.

Dan worked for many years with NCS (National Computer Systems). He served in the Air Force where he developed a lifelong passion for observing weather conditions. Upon completing his service, he worked at REI as a cycling expert and finished his career as Senior Director at DRC (Data Recognition Corporation).

He greatly enjoyed building 'Last Cast Fishing Rods' with his wife Kristi. He helped create the 'Fishers of Men Too' Bible study group with Pastor Dave from Hope Lutheran Church. Dan loved everything about fish—catching them, eating them, and pickling them. He also loved bicycling and travelled to many areas for bike trips.

But most of all, Dan loved Kristi. They met in 2001 when he was working at Kenwood Cyclery. His co-workers teased Dan, saying he would marry the first woman he “trapped” on the bus bench in front of the shop. Indeed, that is where he met Kristi while another friend shopped for her bike. Kristi had a white cane, so Dan naively encouraged her to try the bike out while he walked along side, but she promptly left him in the dust. They were married one year later and enjoyed 19 years together.

Please come to the funeral dressed casually, perhaps as you would come to the lake.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred as checks made out to “Daniel A Coffin Revocable Trust” to help with the cost of the funeral.
