Craig H. Muntifering

Craig H. Muntifering, age 68, of Minneapolis, MN passed away March 17, 2024.  Craig was born in St. Cloud, MN to Frederick (Fritz) and DonnaMae (nee Cremers) Muntifering on December 8, 1955.  His life was filled with kindness, compassion, and love for those poor and impoverished, people in need of care and support, and the socially disenfranchised.

Craig graduated from Buffalo High School, Buffalo, MN with the class of 1974 and pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls and graduated with a degree in Psychology and Business.  He spent most of his professional career with the University of Minnesota, holding various finance positions, and ultimately retired from the U in 2022.  He was a devoted Golden Gopher fan and often attended various events.  

With a passion for music, Craig was a self-trained pianist and played with several accordion groups.   He worked several years as a part-time usher for the Ordway Music Theatre where he delighted in seeing world famous performers for free.  

Craig’s greatest attribute was his compassion for humanity.  He shared his time, talent, and treasure in helping others who were terminally ill, homeless, or needing nutrition.  His heart was often larger than his ability to help, but that never seemed to matter as he gave everything he had to help others.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by brothers Marc (Jim Hagen) Muntifering of Seattle, WA; Ron (Colleen) Muntifering of Buffalo, MN; Chris (Marsha) Muntifering of Atlanta, GA; and sisters Cheryl (John) Gransee of St. Michael, MN; Patrice (Jon) Bogart of Monticello, MN; Susan (Tom) Evans of Buffalo, MN; Ann (Bruce) Hanson of Buffalo, MN; Mary Muntifering of Buffalo, MN; and Jean (Jim) Elsenpeter of Buffalo, MN.  Further survived by 19 nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 at Central Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, MN.   Service will begin at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior.  The Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
