Christos's  Service will be live streamed in the box below:

Christos A. Bakritges was born September 21, 1934 in the village of Gimno, Greece. Emigrated to America on March 5, 1955 as a young man at the age of 19. He first settled in Mason City, Iowa, with his Uncle Nick and Aunt Mary for 7 years to work the family bar / restaurant business. During those years he arranged with his Father to emigrate 3 brothers (Nick, George and Jim) to America.

In 1961 Christos decided to move to Minneapolis, Minnesota to start a new life. That same year he met his future bride Efstratia during a 6 month visit from Greece and loved her so much that he asked for her hand in marriage in 1962. In 1969 Christos and Efstratia settled in Crystal, Minnesota with their five children. He loved his Family and his Grandchildren very much, and they especially would bring a smile to his face.

Christos loved the Greek heritage, music, and songs of his country. A customer once told me, Christos was a ‘man among men’ treating people with grace and dignity during his 47 years in the restaurant business. Christos had a vision given by God to very few men. He was a simple man who loved simple things.  Christos was a member of the Order of AHEPA, Demosthenes Chapter #66, Minneapolis, and a member of St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church since 1962.

Christos was a true example of the American dream faithfulness to his Family. In his final days, his Family rallied around him as much as possible until the very end! He died peacefully surrounded by his Family as was his wish, expressing his love to us.  Thank you to the North Memorial Hospice Care Team for their comfort to Christos.
