Carol Louise Kant, age 90, longtime resident of Chanhassen, MN, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, in Plymouth, MN. An open house to celebrate the life of Carol will be held April 27th from 1 to 3 p.m. The family will visit with family and friends at 3916 W. 28th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55416. Carol's funeral service was held on December 20th at Summerwood. Interment will be Monday, April 28th at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Carol was born April 26, 1934, to Guenther and Arlene (Tetzlaff) Waidelich in Milwaukee, WI. In her younger years, Carol was opera trained and performed in an opera in the lead role. She loved to sing and sang in the church choir for as long as she was able. She was also a licensed beautician and enjoyed using this skill. Carol married Ralph E. Kant on November 6, 1954. They had 5 children by 1962, including 2 sets of twins. They lived in Madison, Milwaukee, Brown Deer, WI, Burlington, Iowa, and then moved to Chanhassen, MN, in the summer of 1964. Then they lived in Garrison, MN and Rio Rancho, NM before Carol returned to Minnesota in 2016.
In addition to raising their family in Chanhassen, the Kant's helped found Living Christ Lutheran Church, then served as teachers for the 7th and 8th grade and adults, and sang in the choir. Carol and Ralph, who also enjoyed singing in the church choir, enjoyed performing with the Chanhassen Civic Theater in productions of "Oklahoma" and "The Sound of Music". Carol enjoyed spending time gardening, knitting and painting, and over the years, Carol and Ralph both enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, and spending time with family and friends across America. They also were very focused on studying God's Word and living the life God planned for them.
Carol is survived by son, Ralph (Chris) of Delano, MN; daughters, Susan (Gary) Meltzer of Avon, IN; Renee (Paul) Sanghera of Campbell, CA; Lois (Gary) Travis of South St. Paul, MN; Lynn (Mike) Schuetze of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Lois Horne of Milwaukee, WI; 11 grandchildren and 9 spouses, 23 great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; parents Guenther and Arlene; and sister, Gertrude Petroske.
In lieu of flowers being sent, memorial contributions may be given to Bible Study Fellowship International, Focus on the Family, or a charity of your choice.
