Bruce David Torkelson

Torkelson, Bruce David, 60, of Maple Grove, MN passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born on June 13, 1963, in Cumberland, WI to Norman and Mary Lou Torkelson. He graduated from Cumberland High School in 1981. Following high school, he attended UW River Falls graduating with a degree in Business Finance and Economics. Bruce enjoyed a 34-year career with CH Robinson Worldwide, Inc.

Bruce and Julie (Sherry) were married in Kauai, HI on April 7, 1999. They were blessed with two amazing sons, Nathan and Alec.  Bruce's family was his pride and joy. Bruce was an outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, taking the dog for walks, and spending time with his family at their cabin in Cumberland. Bruce was a devoted Christian, a humble man with a kind heart and clever sense of humor.

Bruce will be deeply missed by his family:  wife, Julie, and their sons, Nathan and Alec of Maple Grove, MN;  brother, Rollie (Karen) Torkelson of Cumberland, WI;  sisters, Nancy (Dale) Avery of Spokane, WA and Susan (Brian) Kretsch of St Paul, MN;  mother in law Eleanor Sherry of Winthrop, MN;  in-laws, Steve (Joan) Sherry of Oronoco, MN,   Bill Sherry of Apple Valley, MN,  Dick (Sarah) Gerhardt of Fairmont, MN,  Susan (Kevin) Lauwagie of Winthrop, MN,  Laura (John) Tiemann of Bloomington, MN. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Norm and Mary Lou.  Father in law, Tom Sherry,  sister in law, Diane Gerhardt, and nephew,  Joshua Lauwagie.

Funeral service and visitation will be held Friday Feb 16, 2024 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church,  7401 County Road 101,  Maple Grove, MN. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM followed by the funeral at 11:00 AM.  There will be a luncheon following in the gathering hall. A memorial plaque will be displayed in the church’s Memorial Peace Garden.
