Betty Juntunen

Betty Juntunen of Maple Grove, MN, formerly of Rolla, ND, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at age 88. She was born on her grandparent’s farm in Towner County, rural Rolla, North Dakota on October 18, 1932, the daughter of Clinton and Ellen (Kurtti) Taylor.  She attended school and was raised in the rural Rolla area. At age 9 she moved with her family to the West Coast living in California and Oregon.

On a trip back to ND to attend her cousin’s wedding, she met John Juntunen.  On September 17, 1955, Betty Taylor and John Juntunen were united in marriage on the Juntunen farm near Perth, ND.  They raised their family on the farm, primarily growing small grains and raising Angus cattle.  After John passed away in September 1992, Betty continued to live in the area until moving to Minneapolis, MN, in 1997 to be closer to her children and families.

Betty was a loving mother who enjoyed raising her family on the farm, helping with field and yard work as needed, and raising a large garden.  After moving to MN, she enjoyed spending time and caring for her grand-children, which included spoiling them.  She was a member of the Minneapolis Laestadian Lutheran Church.

Betty is loved and will be missed by her children, Kimberly (Steve) Bommersbach, Jody Juntunen, Jon (Elizabeth) Juntunen, Mark (Sandra) Juntunen; grandchildren, Adam (Kristine) Bommersbach, Eric Juntunen, Aaron (Cassie) Bommersbach, John Juntunen, Levi (Jennah) Juntunen, Kayla (Quinn) DeLacey, and Kaitlyn Juntunen; great-grandchildren, Ainsley and Aoife Bommersbach, and Arthur DeLacey; siblings, Loretta Paulson, Andy (Janet) Taylor, Linda Beacham, Cathy (John) Johnston, and Evida (Greg) Katayama; sister-in-law, Vicki Taylor.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Taylor; brothers-in-law, Danton Paulson and Charles Beacham.

Private Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 5, at Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel in Plymouth, Minnesota.  Interment Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in rural Perth, ND.
