Eisele, Bernice Sarah Vogt, age 93 passed away October 27 th , 2018 at the Heather’s Manor in Crystal, MN. She was born October 14 th , 1925 in Lawler, Iowa to parents, George and Mary (Meier) Vogt. Bernice graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterloo, IA. She also took some classes at the University of Northern Iowa.
Married Wayne Harold Eisele on November 28, 1946 in Waterloo.
Bernice was very involved in the community. She volunteered at St. John’s church and school, Columbus High School, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other organizations.
She was very artistic; she quilted, painted, knitted, crocheted, cross stitched, created ceramic items, tatted, wove baskets, and other crafts. She was always a gracious hostess; she strove to ensure that people were comfortable and well fed. The Eisele home was the site of many gatherings through the years.
She was devoted to her spouse and family. Bernice was always available to help whether that was watching her grandchildren, attending school events, bicycling, camping, traveling, cheering on Columbus athletes with Wayne, or digging in and helping with whatever the current project was.
She worked side by side with Wayne to build and furnish their first home where they lived for 60 years on Monroe St in Waterloo. They later moved to Lisa Drive. For the last 3 years she lived in the Minneapolis area.
Bernice is survived by children, Jerome (Jane) Eisele of Bushnell IL, Barbara of New Hope, MN, Michael (Deb) Eisele of New Ulm, MN and Mary (Dave) Eisele Slack of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Alan Eisele, Krysta Eisele Crandall, Travis Eisele, Erik Eisele, Anthony Slack, Tara Eisele and John Slack; great- grandchildren, Luke Eisele, Pierce John and Grant Crandall, Gideon and Abraham Eisele; siblings, Clarissa (Les) Vogt Allison of Fort Collins, CO
She was preceded in death by spouse, Wayne Eisele; parents, George and Mary Vogt; siblings, Ray Vogt, Leo Vogt, Dan Vogt, Rose Leppert, Lauretta Webb, Florence Wilson, Verona Fuhr, Mildred Eckert, and Gertrude Gierlach.
Open house celebration of life visitation Thursday (11/8), 6-9 PM at Isle Hotel (meeting room on 2nd floor), 777 Isle of Capri Blvd., Waterloo, Iowa. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial Friday (11/9), 10:30 AM with visitation starting at 9:30 AM at Queen of Peace Parish, 320 Mulberry St., Waterloo, Iowa. Luncheon to follow the Mass. Memorial preferred to Columbus High School or the Alzheimer’s Association.
