Ben P. Dye, 99, of Maple Grove, MN, formerly of Nicholasville, Kentucky, passed away on December 11, 2020, peacefully – surrounded by family.
Ben was especially proud of his service in the US Army, a World War II Veteran. He had a talent for woodworking, which he used to build beautiful grandfather clocks for each of his children, along with many other pieces of furniture. His skills did not end there, as he also was passionate about his vegetable gardens, and it showed. He had an even bigger spot in his heart for little children and animals – they were drawn to him. He even acquired a wild duck friend who followed him everywhere. In his spare time from these hobbies, he enjoyed square dancing and bus tours with the love of his life, Elizabeth.
Preceded in death by his father, Thomas Dye; mother, Sudie (Miracle) Dye; sisters Hazle (Lee) Brown and Leola (Arnold) Williams; brother, Frank (Gladys) Dye.
He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Elizabeth; children, Thelma (Allen) Shepperd, Larry (Jennifer) Dye of Nicholasville, KY, Janice (Ron) Thomsen, and Ben C. (Susann) Dye; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Private family service will be held on Friday, December 18 at 2:00 PM. A livestream of the service will be available on Ben’s obituary at the Gearty-Delmore website.
