Barbara Jean Thorgrimson, age 85, formerly of Golden Valley passed away on March 13, 2018 at Maranatha Care Center.
Barb was a non-traditional wife, mother, and grandmother. Barb preferred being on the tennis court or playing other sports to domestic chores. She played tennis and golf her whole life, she even taught tennis lessons. She participated in the Senior Olympics, winning multiple medals in doubles tennis, the javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, and the long jump.
Barb was also very creative, she painted, did mosaics, and had a ceramic business.
She had a great sense of adventure, she and her husband Glenn traveled regularly to Mexico and also visited England, Puerto Rico, and British Columbia.
She loved pets and had a special affinity for dogs. She always had a dog or cat or both by her side. Some of the things that made Barb unique were getting a tattoo at the young age of 70, practicing yoga, Tai Chi, and learning Chinese.
Barb was a sweet, gentle, and kind person with dry British sense of humor which will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Glenn; son, John Glenn; parents and siblings.
Survived by children, Lisa Dawn, Jacque (Mark) Hickman, Neal Thorgrimson and Jan Jeske; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
