Arlette Gwen (Kaatz) Parnell passed on August 15, 2020, surrounded by family.
Arlette was born to Gordon Lloyd Kaatz and Margaret Rose (Fox) on June 14, 1933 in Highwater Township, near Lamberton, MN. She graduated from Lamberton High School in 1951. After graduating, she moved to Minneapolis and worked as a secretary.
She later married and raised four children: Mark Parnell, Tracy Foreman, Gwen Parnell and Kelly Follis. She was also a stepmother to Georgia (Parnell) Robinson. She leaves as her legacy seven grandchildren: Ryan, Steve, Matthew, Danielle, Chrissy, Nick, and Josh; as well as 13 great grandchildren and a special grand-dog, Hank.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Marilyn (Kaatz) Fourre.
Arlette grew up on a farm outside Lamberton. She was active in 4-H and enjoyed helping her father with the animals on the farm; especially raising her pet pig, Porky, and playing with the numerous kittens on the farm. Later in life, she worked as a money counter at Servomation (a vending company) for over twenty years and also volunteered at her church as a money counter.
After she retired, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. One of her favorite activities with her grandchildren was picking strawberries and making homemade strawberry jelly. She was an avid reader and bird watcher, and enjoyed sewing and embroidery. She also enjoyed cooking and trying out new recipes. She stayed active by swimming with her water aerobics group at the YMCA. She was a much-loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Arlette was a kind, compassionate woman who would go out of her way to help those in need. She will be greatly missed by all.
Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
