Ann Leslie Schaffer
Ann Schaffer, 66, of Robbinsdale, passed away peacefully from sequel Alzheimer’s dementia June 12, 2024, in Sandy, Utah. She was born October 21, 1957, in Minneapolis.
She lived in Minneapolis and its suburbs for all her life until the last three months. For hospice care Ann moved to Sandy, where her younger daughter lives.
After earning her General Education Diploma (GED), Ann studied to become a certified home health aide. She achieved certification and for many years provided care and companionship to multiple clients confined to their homes.
Ann was a lover of nature and could often be found outside watching sunsets and then marveling at the moon and stars. The weather also intrigued her - so much so that she would often call family members to warn them of impending storms and dangerous driving conditions.
Animals, especially dogs, cats, geese, owls, and squirrels, were of keen interest to her, but rabbits were her favorite.
Ann was always friendly and generous to others, even though she herself faced many challenges. No matter how tough things got, she always retained her sense of humor. One of her favorite sayings was “Well, if you can’t laugh about it, it isn’t worth living.”
She is survived by her two daughters, Leah Schaffer of Crystal and Rose McIntosh (Josh) of Sandy; her grandson Rowan McIntosh; her brother Michael Schaffer (Karen Stiles) of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister Nancy Narr (Don) of Crystal; and five nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Gail Schaffer of Golden Valley, and her brother, Scott Schaffer of Minneapolis.
Ann’s life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 2, at Sacred Heart Church, 41st Avenue North and Hubbard Avenue North, Robbinsdale.
Visitation will take place one hour prior to the Mass in the Community Space of the church. Interment will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, New Hope.
