Alvin "Ray" Goebel

Alvin “Ray” Goebel Jr., 81, passed away December 14, 2024 in Robbinsdale, MN. He was born to Alvin “Al” and Justine Goebel on October 26, 1943 in White Plains, NY. His dad worked for AT&T and his family moved across the country before settling down in Connecticut. He graduated from Stanford High School in Connecticut and later earned his bachelor's degree from Lehigh University.

In his retirement Ray was able to join the DX Century club by communicating with people from more than 100 different countries, including Vatican City, via Ham Radio. He would wake up early on Wednesdays to participate in global competitions with his Ham Radio.

Ray is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Don Goebel; and sisters, Gail and Jeri.

Ray was preceded in death by his son Michael.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 20, 2024 at 11 am with a visitation one hour prior at St. Joseph Catholic Community Church, 8701 36th Avenue North, New Hope, 55427.
