Allison P. Norberg

Passed away on Feb. 15, 2019 of an accidental overdose after a long, brave battle with addiction. Allison is survived by her parents, Nancy and Kendal; sisters, Nicole and Maddie; grandparents, Marti and David Dickinson; her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and preceded in death by her grandmother, Maxine Norberg and grandfather, Howard Norberg; and aunt Wendy Eickhoff.

Allison would never want to be defined by her addiction; she was so much more than that. For those fortunate enough to see Allison through childhood and during her sober periods, they immediately recognized her as a fun, affectionate, and lighthearted soul who would drop anything to be there for others. She loved her family deeply and always lit up the room with her smile and sense of humor, even while struggling with her demons.

Allison was a kind and imaginative child with so much promise. Teachers would tell her parents how sweet and well-mannered she was, always willing to help. She excelled in reading and writing, enjoyed softball and gymnastics, and loved spending time with family and friends.

Throughout her life, she always pushed to see the good in the world despite the hardships she endured. She was quick to compliment and strived to make everyone around her feel welcome and loved. She cared so deeply for others, often taking on their pain as her own.

Allison experimented with pain pills in high school and so began a battle with opiates, and later heroin, that would eventually take her life.

Allison wanted to live and bring goodness to the world. She had dreams of becoming an addiction counselor and having children of her own someday, but sadly, addiction does not discriminate. Not a day will go by that we won’t think of her.

We love you, Allison.
