Passed peacefully joining her husband Jim, mother Blanche, father James, sisters Margaret, Doris, & Jeanette; and brothers Jim and Jack in their heavenly home.
Alice is lovingly survived by her youngest brother and his wife Bruce and Glenna Hayhoe; cherished niece Linda Voigt; children Jean, Bruce, Kathryn (Rehwaldt), and Susan (Klein); sons-in-law Bruce Rehwaldt and Andrew Klein; grandchildren Molly (Rehwaldt) Ford, Thomas Rehwaldt, Peter Klein, and Jennifer Klein; and great-granddaughter Freyja Ford.
A spirited young woman and honor student at Robbinsdale High School, Alice met and married her husband Jim while attending Macalester College. They were strong partners in life and business for over 65 years.
Alice was a homemaker who enjoyed interior design, gardening and painting. She cherished time spent with friends and family: picking shells on the beaches of Florida, playing cards at the cabin on Yellow River, and traveling. England was a favorite destination and featured in many of her paintings. Alice is remembered for her quiet strength and kindness, unending patience, sense of humor, and creativity. But it is her love of family, and belief in the possible that were her greatest gifts.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the love and care of Alice's many caregivers and companions, particularly those of the SummerWood staff and Optage homecare and hospice teams.
Alice was laid to rest on Friday, March 25th at Sunset Cemetery in Minneapolis. A memorial service to be announced at a later date.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Optage Hospice. Checks payable to "Presbyterian Homes Foundation", 2845 Hamline Ave N, Roseville MN 55113.
