Steve O. Hanson

Steve O. Hanson age 68 of Maple Grove.

Survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Bryan (Ariel) Hanson, Brent Hanson, Katie (Alberto) Ramos and Brice Hanson; grandchildren, Freya, Orik, Tillie, Mateo, Diego and Emmie; mother, Carol Hanson; siblings, Dan (Sandy) Hanson, Debbie (Dave) Meissner, Duane Hanson and Sandy (Steve) Aydt; mother-in-law, Delores Moren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his father, Sherman and father-in-law, Donald Moren.

Steve O. Hanson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to parents Sherman and Carol. Steve was the second born in his family of five kids. Steve married his loving wife, Karen, on June 17, 1978. Together, they raised  three sons and one daughter. Steve went to the University of Minnesota where he completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Siemens alongside various other companies and ended his career as a project manager. Outside of work, Steve coached all four of his kid’s basketball teams while they were in elementary school, loved to golf, and loved to watch the Vikings, Twins, Gophers Basketball and Timberwolves. Later in Life, Steve was active in the Celebrate Recovery Program at his church with his wife, Karen.

In 2010, Steve was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, and in 2020, was also diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Steve tried to make the best of his diagnosis by seeking support, staying active, and enjoying his family as much as he could.

We will miss his dad jokes, quick wit, love for sports, soft and kind heart, and reliance on Jesus in his last days. We love you, Dad!

Memorial service 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 7401 County Road 101, Maple Grove.

Interment Lord of Life Columbarium.

Visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
