Robert James Short

Robert James Short was born on September 19th, 1942 in Valparaiso Indiana to Rosamund and Harold Short. Bob studied electrical engineering at Purdue University and went on to be a Commodity Broker in Chicago, Illinois for 45 years. Bob passed away from complications after a 20 year battle with an enlarged heart.

Bob met Deborah and fell deeply in love. They married in 1987 and had a long wonderful marriage. Bob had one child, a daughter they named Alana. Being a father was something that Bob was very good at. Alana moved to Minneapolis after college, and naturally Bob and Deb moved their entire lives in Lisle, Illinois to be 10 minuets away from their daughter.

Bob was a quiet, funny, charming, and generous man. He was a boat enthusiast who at one point owned 6 boats on Koontz Lake in Indiana. He was a car fanatic who owned several Corvettes and several motorcycles throughout his life. He was a remote controlled helicopter and airplane  hobbyist with countless aircrafts that kept him busy through his retirement. Despite his long complicated battle with his heart, Bob was able to meet all three of his granddaughters, and enjoyed watching them grow. Bob was a delight, and he meant the world to his family.

Bob is survived by his wife, Deborah Short, his daughter, Alana Woods (J.J. Woods), and his 3 grand daughters, Luna Woods, Loretta Woods, and Lola Woods.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on November 18th at Gearly-Delmore Funeral Chapel in Plymouth, MN from 1:00-3:00pm. We would love to hear your memories of Bob during a memory share staring at 2:00pm.
